What's free, and what's Pro Dad?

The app is free, and it stays useful without paying a cent. Free includes the full built-in joke library, browsing and search, favorites, sharing, the daily-joke widget, the daily notification, the Rim Shot sound, up to 2 jokes of your own, and 1 on-device AI joke per day.

How do I back up the jokes I've added?

Backing up is part of Pro Dad. Once you've unlocked it, open Settings and tap Back Up My Jokes. The app saves the jokes you've added yourself to a small file you can keep in the Files app, email to yourself, or AirDrop to another device — you're always in control of that file. (The built-in joke library is already included in the app on every device, so backups only need to carry your own jokes.)

How do I move my jokes to a new iPhone?

Moving jokes uses the Pro Dad backup and restore tools. On your old phone, tap Back Up My Jokes to create the file. On the new phone, install Dad Joke Vault, restore Pro Dad if needed (see below), then tap Restore My Jokes in Settings and choose your backup file.

How do I add the daily-joke widget?

Touch and hold an empty spot on your home screen until the apps jiggle, tap the + in the corner, search for Dad Joke Vault, and add the widget. It shows a fresh joke every day; tap it to open the full punchline in the app. The widget is free.

How do I get a daily joke notification?

In Settings, turn on Daily Joke and pick the time you'd like it. You'll get one groan-worthy notification a day at that time. It's off until you switch it on, and it's free. Tap the notification to reveal the punchline in the app.

What are the sound effects?

Tap the Ba-dum-tss button under any joke for the classic drum sting after a punchline — free for everyone. Pro Dad adds additional sound effects for the full corny delivery.

Why don't I see the "Generate a Joke with AI" button?

AI joke generation runs entirely on your device using Apple Intelligence, which is only available on newer iPhones with the feature enabled. On devices that don't support it, the AI option is hidden — everything else in the app works exactly the same.

I bought Pro Dad but it's gone after reinstalling. How do I get it back?

Tap Restore Purchases in Settings. As long as you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with, Pro Dad will be restored at no additional charge. This also works when you set up a new phone.

What are the tips for?

If you're enjoying the app, the optional tips (Coffee, Bagel, or Coffee and a Bagel) are a way to say thanks and support development. They're completely optional and unlock nothing extra — just good dad-joke karma.

Is my data private?

Yes. The app collects no personal data, has no accounts, and keeps everything on your device. See the Privacy Policy for details.
